Single Missing Tooth Implant
Strong. Permanent. Implant Crown.
If you have a missing tooth, this can be restored with single dental implant crown. An implant crown permanently replaces the entire tooth structure from the tooth root to its crown.
A tooth implant consists of three main components:
-
Implant Post: A screw that securely embeds in the jaw bone and acts as the tooth root.
-
Abutment: A connector piece that holds the new tooth crown in place.
-
Ceramic Crown: The custom-made false tooth.
Implants Outperforms Other Missing Gap Solutions
A missing tooth may be replaced with missing gap solutions. However dental implants typically offer the best long-term value and benefits.
1. Implants vs. Dental Bridges
A tooth implant protects your natural teeth. When a dental bridge is used, your dentist needs to “grind down” adjacent teeth to the missing gap to act as anchors. This permanently alters your other natural teeth structure. A single implant is self-supporting. It stands alone without damaging or relying on the adjacent teeth, preserving neighboring healthy oral health.
2. Implants vs. Dentures
Partial dentures are removable and often rely on metal clasps on adjacent teeth to hold the dentures in place. Dentures can slip while speaking or eating from jaw movement, causing discomfort or embarrassment. A dental implant is fused into your jawbone, after healing it becomes a permanent part of your body. It feels, bites, and functions exactly like a real tooth without the need for adhesives or cleaning removals for oral health maintenance.

Dental Implant Dentists
Smile Signature dental clinics use a dental specialists system to ensure that surgical and complex dental treatment are always treated properly by qualified and experienced dentists to assure successful results.
As dental implant treatments are done in 2 stages. When you come in for dental implant treatment, you may receive consultation by a prosthodontist that walks through with you various options on missing gaps solutions. Should you decide to undertake dental implants, your prosthodontist may refer you to an implantologists or oral surgeon to perform the first stage implant post surgery. Thereafter when the implant posts is healed, your prosthodontist then continues work over the implants.
Implantologists are dental experts trained on surgical placement of implant posts. They check bone condition, soft tissue nerves to ensure implant posts are properly positioned and do not hit any nerves. Prosthodontists are specialists that construct crowns, bridge and dentures. Aside from doing prostheses over natural teeth, prosthodontists also specialized in building prosthetic restorations over implant posts. In Thailand, all general dentists are able to perform dental implant and prostheses treatment. However, for successful and a good esthetic outcome, your implant treatment at Smile Signature is treated by a qualified implantologist and prosthodontist. This reduces risks for complications and improves restorative look as treatment are by skilled, qualified and experienced specialist and not general dentists.
Our team of dentists at Smile Signature dental implant clinic composes of highly qualified dental specialists in the field of implantology and prosthetics. Many having placed thousands of implants and prostheses for our patients who travel into Thailand for dental implant treatments.

Yes, but we recommend a soft-food diet for the first 7 days. While Thailand offers amazing cuisine, patients should avoid spicy, crunchy or very hot foods immediately after surgery. Soft local dishes like porridge, clear soup or cold coconut ice cream are excellent choices of foods for recovery.
You can enjoy light sightseeing in Bangkok 24 hours after surgery. However, we advise avoiding strenuous activities, heavy sun exposure or swimming for at least 3 to 5 days to ensure proper healing, prevent swelling. Avoid impact or heavy biting pressure over the healing area.
A “Same-Day” crown is typically a provisional or temporary crown fitted after the surgical implant post placement. The dentist attaches a temporary crown that is usually “out of occlusion” and does not touch opposing teeth when you bite. Immediate-load crown over implant is usually built for esthetic purposes. So the patient does not leave the clinic with a with tooth gap, especially for front teeth. Provisional crowns are not meant for functional biting whereby you do not want heavy biting impact over a newly inserted implant post. You must have high primary stability or dense bone before your dentist considers for an immediate-load or same day crown.

Conventional Dental Implants
Conventional dental implant treatment is typically structured into two separate trips to Thailand. The first trip requires 5 to 7 days and focuses on the surgical placement of the implant post with a healing cap. During this stage, you may add-on temporary crown (known as an immediate-load implant), temporary bridge or partial denture over the implant post for esthetic reasons during the healing period. If opting for temporaries, please leave additional days stay for the dental lab to construct the crown and denture that will be specifically customized specifically only for you.
Following a healing period of at least 2 to 6 months which allows for your jaw bone to fuses to the implant post (osseointegration process), a second trip of 7 days is made. During this final phase, your prosthodontist custom designs, builds and fit your permanent ceramic crown over the implant post to allow you to bite and chew naturally.
Single Missing Tooth Implant Timeline at a Glance
| Phase | Purpose | Duration in Thailand |
| Trip 1: Surgery | Consultation, CT Scan and Implant Placement |

| Healing Gap | Osseointegration at home | > 2 – 6 Months |
| Trip 2: Restorative | Impression taking and Final Crown Placement | 7 Days |
Aside from conventional implants, that most commonly applies to majority of patients, there are also implant solutions for one day implants for selective cases whereby the timeline will look slightly different. The above is the timeline for a single missing tooth using dental implant crown. Get more information on the timeline for multiple missing teeth or full jaw missing teeth implants.
If you have a single missing gap, a conventional single dental implant crown takes 2 trips. Each trip is about 2 to 6 months apart. Each trip staying about 7 days.
